Anemia is considered when the concentration of hemoglobin in the blood decreases, even if the level of erythrocytes (red blood cells or red blood cells) is normal or even elevated. Hemoglobin, a protein rich in iron, allows red blood cells to carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. And when its levels drop, the body does not receive enough oxygen from the blood, which makes the affected person feel down or tired, or other common symptoms appear in an anemic person, such as dyspnea (difficulty breathing), paleness, dizziness or headaches, cold hands or feet. Anemia can be temporary or prolonged in time.
It must be taken into account that the reference limits for the concentration of hemoglobin in the blood may vary according to the population analyzed, since it depends on various factors such as age, sex, environmental conditions and eating habits.
Different Types and Causes.
There are different forms or types of anemia depending on the cause that causes it. The most common cause of anemia is a lack of iron (iron deficiency anemia), the incidence of which is especially high in young women and children of growing age (infantile anemia) due to dietary deficiencies in this mineral or also due to lack of vitamin B9 or B12, necessary to produce healthy red blood cells.
Although other medical problems or situations that cause significant blood loss, a deficit in the production of red blood cells (aplastic anemia or anemia associated with bone marrow pathologies) or their rapid destruction (hemolytic anemia) can also cause anemia. Among these reasons are pregnancy, very heavy periods, polyps or ulcers or genetic disorders (sickle cell anemia, thalassemia), or the continued use of some painkillers, such as aspirin, among others.
If anemia is prolonged over time, it can cause heart and brain complications and, in the most serious cases, even cause death.
Natural remedies

Ingredients:
• 2 slices of pineapple
• 1 glass of water
• Some parsley leaves

If you don’t have a food processor, you can blend the vegetables in the blender, without adding water, and strain them afterwards.
- Plum juice.
Prune juice is excellent for fighting anemia because it is rich in vitamin C, and therefore enhances the absorption of iron from foods of plant origin.
Ingredients:
• 100 g of plum
• 600 ml of water
Preparation:
Add all the ingredients in the blender. If you wish, you can sweeten to taste and it is ready to drink.
NOTE:
To combat anemia, foods that contain iron should be consumed daily and depending on the severity of the anemia, the doctor may prescribe some medication such as ferrous sulfate.
