Nosebleeds

Stop occasional nosebleeds quickly and reduce frequency by strengthening capillaries and supporting clotting.

Prevention
Key nutrients: Vitamin C, bioflavonoids, vitamin K, iron, hydration.
Eat regularly: Citrus (with pith), berries, leafy greens, broccoli, eggs, red meat or lentils, sesame seeds.
Humidify dry indoor air and avoid nose-picking; trim children's nails.

Pinch & lean forward

OtherStrong evidence

Sit upright, lean slightly forward, and pinch the soft part of the nose firmly for 10 minutes without releasing — the first-line stop for most nosebleeds.

Yarrow leaf

HerbTraditional use

A small pinch of finely powdered yarrow placed at the nostril, or a yarrow-soaked cotton plug, helps stop bleeding rapidly.

Vitamin C + bioflavonoids

VitaminModerate evidence

500–1000 mg vitamin C with 500 mg rutin or hesperidin daily strengthens capillaries and reduces recurrent nosebleeds.

Vitamin K (leafy greens)

FoodStrong evidence

Daily intake of kale, spinach, and parsley supports normal clotting and reduces easy bleeding.

Saline nasal spray

OtherStrong evidence

Use 2–3× daily during dry weather or heating season to keep the nasal lining moist and prevent crack-related bleeds.

Ferrum Phosphoricum 6X

MineralTraditional use

Schüssler tissue salt — 4 tablets every 1–2 hours during a bleed, traditionally used for bright red bleeding and to support recovery.

A note of caution. Natural doesn't mean risk-free. Herbs and supplements can interact with medications, affect pregnancy, or worsen certain conditions. Speak with a qualified clinician before starting a new regimen, especially if you take prescriptions.
